Welcome to Our Center

The main objective of setting up CRCs was to provide basic computer literacy to the students during their vacations or after they had left school.

Galahitiyawa Computer Resource Center is one of the Computer Resources Centres (CRCs) created island wide to work as the forerunner of introducing ICT education into the government school system during the 1994 - 1999 period of school modernization. The staff was given local and foreign ICT exposure and encouraged to acquire post graduate qualification in ICT. They were assigned the task of maintaining CRC without the provision of recurring expenditure by government coffers. The idea is from a guideline put forward by the world bank project which provided the initial physical resources for CRCs through a concessionary loan scheme to the government of Sri Lanka. Due to the succes of the process of recruitment alomost all the CRCs are functioning to the date. As ICT is used more extensively in the offices and becomes embedded into day-to-day work, the need to plan and co-ordinate the implementation and delivery of ICT training becomes increasingly critical.
